α-Synuclein tg Mice
α-Synuclein transgenic mice overexpress human wild type alpha-synuclein under the regulatory control of the human PDGF-ß promoter. These transgenic mice are successors of the so-called D-line described in 2000 by E. Masliah and coworkers. Alpha-synuclein is expressed in high levels, resulting in an age-dependent increase of brain inclusions consisting of alpha-synuclein, ubiquitin and other proteins. Severity of the brain pathology correlates with increasing age. JSW Life Sciences holds an exclusive licence for these mice.
This mouse models is also available with the transgene regulated by the murine Thy-1 promoter.
JSW α-synuclein tg mice are a suitable model to study α-synuclein production, sequestration and deposition as well as possible influences of drugs on these parameters.
